History : Lung's story begins before her birth, with the meeting of her parents. Her father was a merchant, gifted with the ability to Fire Bend, but due to the demands of his family, he lacked in his skill or knowledge of the art. Instead, he worked on ships, and poured over ledgers, becoming a skilled merchant to support himself and his family. It was during one of his voyages to the Northern Water Tribe to haggle for goods produced there that he met the woman who would become his wife.

Unlike some stories, they did not get along right away, and often competed with each other for better products to sell, for she was also a merchant. They ran into each other in ports across the Earth Kingdom, and even a few times at the Air Nomads temples. Over the course of ten years, they went from bitter rivals, to competitive friends, and eventually into the realm of lovers. Once at this point, they had unexpected news that forced them to make a huge decision. With her mother being pregnant with her, they discussed and debated for some time, before settling in the Fire Nation. They both still ran their trading ships, but they did not travel anymore, leaving that and the haggling to younger able bodied people they trusted.

She was born in late fall, and was a healthy child resembling her mother, but with her fathers eyes. She went to school with other children of the Fire Nation, and though it was not an issue for anyone in her earliest years, it was eventually pointed out that she looked different from everyone else, despite her dressing and learning everything her peers learned and wore. This became more apparent when she couldn't Fire Bend, but instead she could Water Bend.

This wouldn't have been so bad, if the other students didn't find it so strange. A few thought it was cool, though once the bullies started targeting her as an enemy living among them, most others started calling her a fish in a frying pan, and most soon began calling her "The Fish." She became reserved growing up because of this, and without a teacher to show her how to water bend, she rarely did, and has not learned as much as she probably could have, though this does not stop her from trying to doing so when she is alone. She did know the basics, however, for her mother got her a scroll from her family still in the Northern Water Tribe when they heard of her troubles.

She has never been to the Northern Water Tribe, but she does wish to visit, as does her distant family, wishing her parents had sent her when she was young, but due to schooling and their busy work schedules, they rarely had time to take her, or when they did, it slipped their mind due to other things going on. Since graduating school, she has taken up a role in her parents company, though not one as exciting as theirs. She is in charge of the local warehouses, checking what stock is there, and what needs to go where, and what is owed. She has much to learn, but her parents believe she will do well, though they have been debating back and forth on whether to send her off on the ships like they used to do growing up. They have not spoken to her about this, though given the option, she would opt to sail the world in a heartbeat. Perhaps she will get her wish soon.
