So Lin Fa is more or less a clean slate with a few redeeming qualities. I was hoping that who she meets/interacts with can shape what kind of person she becomes. A bit about her is that she is a servant and bodyguard of the estate of the northern water tribe chieftain -- in other words, pretty insignificant. There's a lot she wants to do in the world but only so much ability to do so because of her duties and commitments to her tribe. Maybe there's something or someone out there that can change that? [break][break] Locations wise, doesn't matter -- I can make some IC reason to have her be where she's got to be like Republic City or Ba Sing Se or w/e.

These qualities more or less make Lin Fa a pretty decent friend and acquaintance. Her introverted nature may make her a bit stoic and reserved, but there is more childlike curiosity under that mask she wears. Unfortunately, it takes quite the push to get this part of Lin Fa out on the surface. She doesn't really know what all fun consists of and is usually a bystander who withholds a chuckle at anything amusing she sees.

Those considered enemies of the Watertribe are who Lin Fa considers her own enemies. That and anyone who dares harm her superiors. Otherwise, personally Lin Fa isn't usually out to make enemies, although her blunt, curt way of speaking can rub many the wrong way. It's a rare occurrence that she ever is slighted bad enough to hold a personal grudge. But while rare, it's definitely not impossible.

As disciplined as she may try to seem, Lin Fa isn't immune to attraction and can find people of either sex attractive. However never has she let her admiration come in the way of her duties and hasn't quite given romance a shot. This is pretty open - I'm game to see what you have in mind although I do prefer to RP out a thread and see how well they mesh together.

Here are just a few ideas which may give you an idea on what we an RP/Plot out sometime? Doesn't have to stick to the description and some of these can even overlap, but ya, feel free to pick something out and mess with it as you want. [break][break]

CHILDHOOD FRIEND - Maybe someone from her childhood. It could be a fellow servant, or even someone from a higher social status. If its the latter, it would probably make their friendship even more controversial/dramatic. There is loads that can be plotted here.

UNLIKELY FRIENDS - She's got certain ~~judgmental~~ values she adheres to. There are all kinds of folk (like the homeless, shady looking folk and even non-benders) she scrutinizes. It'd be fun to see her form an unlikely/begrudging friendship with someone of that sort and swallow her pride to get whatever job necessary done. Maybe she'll even come to like/respect them.

YOUNGER "SIBLING" - Someone Lin Fa dotes on a lot. Could be pre-established or someone she will meet soon. She'd be probably over-protective and doting -- the kind that's ready to kill for their sake. They could teach her to loosen up and she'll try to do her part in repaying them.

Structure and purpose was always crucial in the Northern Water tribe and, akin to a game of Pai Sho, every individual was assigned a role to play. The daughter of the Song clan was no different and hailing from generations of servants had predetermined her purpose in life.

A mundane childhood she lived, most of which was spent trailing behind the shoddy robes of her father and learning the way of her livelihood. To see one's father bow and be berated before the men of wealth and class taught the girl her place in life. It was in a sense, a sort of bubble she lived in called the lower-class. With that understanding, the girl would soon learn various aspects of her duty, such as to never interact with the children of the upper-class, to never make eye-contact with those who held authority over them and that punishment was simply another aspect of this life.

Thus while the Song girl was never miserable nor oppressed, she grew with no hopes, no dreams and no ambition. At least, not until she was one of the few youth selected to learn combat in a world that yearned to off their superiors. Learning to make water dance caused intrigue to spark in those otherwise lifeless eyes. Drawing steel caused adrenaline to rush and lit her features with a grin she never before wore. That was when she truly began living and strove to be more than what her father was, even if that 'more' was a measly bit.

And eventually, it paid off.

At the age of twenty, Lin-Fa was chosen to be one of the few that served at the chieftain's estate. Her duties remained miscellaneous and menial -- from bodyguard to simply performing errands. But the insignificant woman never ceased to dream wishfully, some of those dreams edging towards being able to break through the bubble she lived in and travel to Republic City.

But until then, the daughter of the Song family continues to play her part and be that piece her superiors want, be it for decades if needed.

Calm, stoic and loyal -- Lin Fa's demeanor reflects her upbringing to quite an extent. But through that stoic, pragmatic mannerism shines some identity. Over the years, the young Lin Fa has developed a sharp-tongue and cynicism, weapons she considers essential in protecting her masters.

[break][break] A sense of responsibility has even caused her to develop a somewhat motherly nature, often finding herself worrying of her comrades and those she cherishes. This sense of duty has also caused her to recklessly push herself to the forefront of battles, earning her many unbecoming scars on her petite frame and beneath her otherwise pristine attire.

But Lin-Fa is not without flaws and most definitely is not the model of good character. With cynicism comes the habit of being judgmental and biased, often stereotyping individuals based on first impressions alone. This alongside her paranoia causes her to be a slightly insensitive, if not unpredictable individual at times.
