Surprisingly, the city that he now despises had once been his home. He can recall the serenity to his youth, how everything was perfect that it could have been said to be too perfect. Sayo was victim to the cruelty of the triads and the influence benders held over those that could not grasp such power. Belonging to a wealthy family left them victim to intrusion. He lost both his mother and father to the fire that day. He had nobody but himself and the horrid image of those before him burning alive. Even now he fears the intensity more than anything else.

However that force was switched elsewhere into the obscured hatred he had tried so hard to keep contained. Sayo had an unbearable need to make those suffer the way he had. The Republic City that was meant to be peaceful between both gifted and not had become a mere facade. In his eyes the government knew what was going on, yet their likely nature prevented them from acting upon it. Sayo desperately spent day after day training beneath the more skillful. He wanted the city-- he wanted the world to know that it was not just the benders that held power.

The first move was simple attacks. Sayo could not bring himself the audacity to take lives. Flashes of his parents flickered through his mind. The second attempt had been explosions, killing two benders. He spends the most of his time stirring trouble with the police force and the triad group, demolishing many of their plans. Gradually his plans are becoming larger and larger as the clock tickers by. While he isn't tormenting the public, he is spying on those he wishes the worst. In spite of this relentless and sinister side, he does hold a particular soft spot for those that do not bend the elements. Especially that of fire.
