the greatest gift in her life was always meant to be the guarding of the origins of firebending. ran and shaw were all iwahime needed; she never felt the need to search for complacency elsewhere. born the daughter of the the sun warrior's chief, the exact weight of the responsibilities they carried never strayed from her mind. even as a young girl, iwa's eyes would grow alight at the thought of the purpose she had been given. she would remain hidden, cloaked by the warmth of the secrets her people swore to uphold.

until the future fire lord appeared in the ancient city.

wary of kaido and his connection to the corruption of the fire nation, iwa was initially unaccepting of his presence amongst the sun warriors. he represented the contemptible beliefs and values of the civilization that was unable to appreciate the true beauty and meaning behind their flames. she watched him vigilantly, protesting to her father only to find her counsel would reach blind ears. kaido contested every notion the sun warriors possessed and eventually iwa found herself growing enamored with the outsider.

she didn't hesitate to offer herself as a living vow of kaido's to maintain the secrecy of the sun warrior's when avatar kraatash arrived at their ancient city. iwa didn't need to plead to her father to receive his blessing. he told her that having a daughter willing to commit the entirety of her life to their clan's intention. iwa bid farewell to sole place that resonated as home to her and joined the company of kraatash and kaido, swearing it was all for the sun warriors and nothing more.

the opportunity to participate in the creation of a city was unlike anything iwahime could have imagined. the shift from a city of ruins to one being built on infinite possibilities created an imbalance within her. but it was shaken off when the realization of the agency of change took hold of the sun warrior. there was no time for hesitancy or consideration, she plunged into the laborious task of forming a city alongside kraatash and kaido. her guidance turned out to be valuable, given iwa's beliefs and values as an uncorrupt firebender.

the formation of republic city was the best introduction to the world iwa could have asked for. she was challenged, found herself feeling defeated numerous times, and cursed kaido's existence more than she would have ever actually admitted. but republic city is a beacon of pride to iwa and serves as living proof of assimilation. the triumphs and tribulations shaped her in ways she never be able to aptly express. republic city is a favored location of the fire lady as well: it is where she gave her heart to the fire lord and their family began to grow.

kaido's battles became her own, a fate that never bothered her because her detestation for the fire nation had continued to flourish. she swore to exhaust herself in her journey to assure that he wore the title of 'fire lord.' it had never been an interest or want of her's to attach the title of 'fire lady' to herself but iwa would follow after her husband with adoration and reverence. iwahime's intent to instill a new generation of firebenders with teaching and guidance that will do the sun warriors justice.

alongside her husband, iwahime is similar but also greatly contrasts fire lord kaido. much like kaido, her sense of justice has never failed her. her pride refuses to be swollen, resulting in occasions where iwa refuses to admit she is the fool and contemplation is needed. but her mind is sharp and she is always wary, assuring that there are few she truly trusts. her devotion is unyielding, having garnered her an admirable reputation amongst the citizens of the fire nation. her temper rarely flares, though there are times where iwa's words are emblazoned. when truly enraged, she has earned the moniker "iwa the inferno" given the few times the fire lady has actually erupted.
