[attr="class","revcallpersonality1"] Kaido the Great, also known by the epithet Kaido the Stern, is the current lord of the Fire Nation, and the second son of Fire Lord Yuujin. Kaido is a tall, broad-shouldered man, wearing scarlet hair and sporting a shortly cropped goatee. He has crystal red eyes the color of rubies and an intensely scrutinizing gaze. [break][break] Kaido is a stern individual, possessing a powerful sense of right and wrong in which decades of battle and politics has jaded. He is shrewd and meticulous, with a tough-as-nails pragmatic approach to ruling. He possesses an animal instinct for the intentions of others and having a healthy sense of cynicism for his position. Despite his often severe demeanor, the Fire Lord truly believes in and cares for his country and his associates. He is a powerful orator, and enjoys teaching, cultivating talent, and takes kin to those with the willingness to learn. [break][break] Fire Lord Azulon ruled justly and wisely, from the following days since the death of his brother Sozin. Azulon was not a man who had his brother's capability for combat or warfare, but his knowledge of the land allowed his nation to flourish. His work ethic, skills and capabilities as a ruler for the Fire Nation ensured great propserity for the kingdom, but it came at a cost of the negligence of his family. And this was none the more apparent when his son, Fire Lord Yuujin, took over. [break][break] Yuujin, the father of Kaido, was a man accustomed to the luxuries of the Fire Nation and lacked the intricate knowledge required for his position. Yuujin was kind hearted and amiable, but easily manipulated, eager to please and recklessly hedonistic, a byproduct of neglecting his studies in favor of pursuits of luxury. Yuujin shirked his responsibillities to his advisors and to his neighbouring lords, allowing them to take much of his power and corrupt the rule of land. He introduced banned traditional rights at the great anger of many, such as the right of concubinehood, as Yuujin had a desire to keep many of his lovers as part of a harem. [break][break] Kaido was born under such circumstances, as the second of six children, each of which was related to a different concubine. Despite his mother's marriage towards Yuujin, Kaido was the favored son amongst all of his brothers. Kaido was bright, studious, and talented at the art of Firebending even at a young age. This favoritism did not go well, however, as Yuujin's marriages were politically turned into question as a result of his lecherous behaviour. The final straw which lead to rebellion and civil war came upon the announcement that he would grant the crown to Kaido, rather than the firstborn son Kaijin. Kaijin was too bloodthirsty and aggressive in the eyes of Yuujin, and he did not wish for a militant nation. This decision lead to massive uproar amongst the ruling lords of the Fire Nations domains. Yuujin was challenged to Agni Kai by Kaijin, Kaido's elder brother and firstborn son, to which Yuujin rejected, spurning the fires of civil unrest even more. [break][break] This ultimately resulted in a palace coup d'etat, one in which Kaido barely managed to escape with the aid of some castle members. Yuujin was overthrown and executed by Kaijin, who proclaimed that the right of concubinehood was a cowardly and disgusting move by his father to embrace his hedonistic tendencies and that he was the rightful ruler of the Fire Nation. This garnered the support of some of the nobility, whom had been spurned by the reckless decisions of Yuujin, whilst alienating others whom believed Kaijin to be a tyrant. Regardless, Kaido was now forced to leave the capital. [break][break] Despite his unfortunate turn of events, Kaido's journey from this point onwards would become the experience of his lifetime, and some of his most cherished memories. Lost and banished, Kaido travelled from area to area with a small group of survivors from the usurpation. Eventually, his travels led him to the Ancient City of the Sun Warriors. After an unfortunate meeting regarding a small matter of theft, the young prince and the survivors were accepted by the Sun Warriors to live a life under the Ancient City. [break][break] Kaido's talents as a firebender trully began to flourish under the guidance of the Sun Warriors. While Kaido had always been skilled, his brother, Kaijin, was stronger. Kaijin possessed a controlled ruthlessness and sheer aggressive willpower that allowed Kaijin's firebending to shine, whereas the more temperate Kaido did not possess such a zeal for bloodthirst. With the Sun Warrior's firebending style, however, Kaido's talents flourished, as he realized the gift of flame did not originate from war and power, but rather the gift of life itself. Under the guidance of the Sun Warriors, Kaido's firebending exponentially improved. [break][break] Kaido would stay under the guidance of the Sun Warriors for a time, until the fateful day of Avatar Kraatash's arrival in the Ancient City. The former prince approached Kraatash, asking for the Avatar's assistance in claiming his throne. Kraatash was reluctant, as the Avatar believed that battles should be fought on one's own merits, but offered the young prince an opportunity to grow into the man that could be the rightful Fire Lord: assist in the formation of Republic City. The Sun Warriors accepted the leave of Kaido, so long as he promised to protect the secret of the dragons and their civilization when he became the Fire Lord. Upon accepting the offer, Kaido left with the Avatar and his group to form Republic City. [break][break] The formation of Republic City itself proved to be the greatest venture that Kaido had earlier on. There were numerous details and issues to begin with, and each problem surmounted itself with problems that no previous man had problems with. But in that struggle, Kaido learned to utillize his talents for leadership, and it spurred his ingenuity. [break][break] After an arduous, but fulfilling time, Republic City had turned from a mere dream into a reality. Kaido helped wherever he could in the formation of a city of progressive thought, despite the backlash, he truly believed in Avatar Kraatash's idea of a progressive society. These ideas he would carry on with him for the rest of his life. His efforts would not grow unnoticed however, as Kaijin also took notice of his younger brother's exploits. Angered by the support of Avatar Kraatash, Kaijin embargoed Republic City and isolated the Fire Nation from all who supported the City. As a result of this, many others began to hesitate in the support of such a revolutionary city. Believing that it was destiny that led him up to this point, Kaido begged his leave from Kraatash's side, and with the support of the Avatar traveled to the Fire Nation in an attempt to settle this feud once and for all. [break][break] Kaido and Kaijin met under negotiating terms for Republic City and the Fire Nation. The Fire Nation was split in support between the two brothers. The younger nobility, that supported the technological advancement and trade from Republic City favored the policies of Kaido. The traditionalist families however, who believed that the secrets of firebending were being bastardized by Kaido's blasphemous philosophies, actively supported Kaijin. In the end, the question of rulership and the ideals of the Fire Nation were determined by a fated Agni Kai between Fire Lord Kaijin, and the Exiled Prince Kaido: Whosoever wins the duel between them became the rightful ruler of the Fire Nation. [break][break] While Kaijin had originally been the better duelist and combatant, Kaido's growth as a person, his experiences under the Sun Warriors and tutelage of Kraatash, ultimately gave him the greater advantage over his brother. Kaido bested his brother in Agni Kai, and whether reluctantly or not, those who respected the traditions of nobility would give way. Kaijin was ultimately tried for treason under the Fire Nation, and took his own life rather than live as a prisoner. Kaido finally took to the throne, becoming the Fire Lord he was meant to become. [break][break] Despite initial resistance, Kaido's policies of slowly opening up trade with Republic City bore fruit, growing his nation to become more prosperous as the exchange of ideas and designs from other kingdoms and tribes became more open and available to the public. While Kraatash would pass away due to an unfortunate incident, Kaido would take the lessons from his mentor and use them to benefit the service of his people. His story, his achievements, his skill in combat, and his leadership to the Fire Nation and Republic City's prosperity, have garnered him the epithet "Kaido the Great. | [attr="class","revcalllikes"] SKILLS+firebending - master[break] +lightning bending - expert[break] [attr="class","revcalllikes1"] [attr="class","revcalllikes"] inventory-N/A |
