Like his sister, Zale was raised on the mindset that his role as a prince came before anything else. He never outright showed it but he absolutely hated the idea of just being a useless example. He was called the prince but he sure didn't feel like one. In fact he felt more like a puppet. He resented this. Zale didn't hate tradition but he wasn't at all against change either and despite his sister's optimism, he could tell that she didn't appreciate their current situation either. And if they were royalty yet still against tradition then he ebelieved that the common northerner must feel even worse. So Zale prepared.

He didn't love the idea of war but he knew that if he introduced the idea of changing and decreasing the ridiculously high and easily exploited traditional political system that was in place, he knew that he'd be met with mental, verbal and physical opposition and he had to prepare himself. For years, every night he'd go through the archives thoroughly and study scrolls, teaching himself several waterbending techniques and even attempting to create a special one of his own, much to his success. During this time he also developed his own martial art. He honed these skills for hours upon hours practically everyday up until this point. He's soon to hit eighteen and when he does, he's decided that that is when he'll take a stand for change. It was more than about time it happened, after all. For his sake, for his sister's sake, and more importantly, for the tribe's sake.

Zale is first and foremost, sarcastic. Sarcasm and snark are definitely present in many of his words. He's also pretty self-dependent and not much of a "team player". He often tries to find a way to do things completely on his own rather than working with others to get a job done. He can also be a bit impulsive at times, especially when he's extremely angry.

On the other hand, Zale is a pretty humorous guy. His sense of humor is relatively wide-ranged and even when he's in a tough situation, he can definitely be found making light of it and spouting a joke. Similar to his sister, he is also pretty optimistic, though not to the extent where he completely ignores the danger of a situation. Lastly, Zale possesses a rather brilliant mind. He's great at learning as a whole and can quite easily understand a lot. It's a big part of the reason why he was able to become such a formidable bender on his own.
